Dr. Rod Toms knows that dentistry is a profession that combines the best of art and science. An acknowledged perfectionist, Dr. Toms draws on his creative flair and his expertise in the techniques of cosmetic dentistry to design beautiful smiles for his patients. “I use my knowledge and experience to give my patients the very best in service that I can deliver, and the continual changes in technology today make it even more imperative to strive to stay current with techniques and technology.”
His early interest in the complexities of restorative dentistry earned him a first place award in Prosthodontics upon his graduation from the University of Toronto. He spent 17 years as a faculty member in the University of Toronto’s Prosthodontics Department and is an active member of the Canadian Academy of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, the Canadian Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has been awarded fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Dentistry International, and the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics.
“Providing my patients with an attractive appearance and the benefits of better health gives me the greatest satisfaction,” he reveals. A firm believer in life-long learning, Dr. Toms also has completed a residency program in Dental Implant Surgery and Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Toms joined the Dental Health Group in 1986 because the practice shared his commitment to providing the finest dental care to patients. “We are a dedicated group of professionals with extensive and varied experience to draw on,” he explains. “We work in a stimulating environment with a dynamic staff, and that makes every day rewarding.”
A man of varied interests, Dr. Toms spends his leisure time sailing, skiing, scuba diving, and cycling. He holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys gourmet cooking.
